What does a Good Google Page One consist of?

26 March 2013 · Igniyte

When it comes to online reputation management, one of the hardest things to understand is what exactly should be filling page one of the Google results that appear when a company name is searched.

Of course, it is easy to say what shouldn’t be filling Google page one; everyone knows that negative reviews are a business’s worst nightmare. Nobody wants to Google their company name and see one or more negative results. Customers and clients are very easily put off by bad reviews; when there are hundreds of similar companies to choose between for a certain service or product, a bad internet reputation is bound to have maximum negative impact.

Online reputation management works through a method in which positive or neutral web pages are pushed up via SEO on Google results, knocking down negative information to inner, less visible pages. But what kind of things should we look to fill our Google page ones with?

Social Network Profiles It is always a great idea to have profiles set up on Twitter and Facebook for your business. This is a great way to connect with the public and your customer base, as well as showing that you are an interactive company that takes an interest in your industry. Twitter and Facebook rank highly on Google so should be seen as easy opportunities to use to fill your Google page one. Tweeting and updating your status regularly give your company a more personal feel, and can also be used for communication with customers and other industry experts. Tweet things such as relevant news articles and relevant online material that may be of interest to your followers.

Customer Testimonials Create a page on your company website for customer testimonials. Ask customers to write a small paragraph stating what they think about your product or service and publish on this page. To have this page ranking on Google page one will have an extremely positive effect; people will be able to see real evidence for why they should choose to go with you.

Blog Create a blog using one of the big blogging networks such as WordPress or Blogspot as these sites tend to rank highly. If you update the blog regularly with relevant articles, it should secure itself a place on page one relatively easily for your company name. Make sure your articles are substantial (around 450 words) and interesting. You can also follow other bloggers on this network and try to gain a following.

Good Reviews on External Websites It’s great to have other sources referring to your site in a positive light on your Google page one. Perhaps you could ask your customers to use an established review site to review your product or service. Having a great review from a trusted reviewing site on your Google page one will ensure a great online reputation.
